Describe your podcast in 2 or 3 sentences

Getting Work To Work is a weekly podcast exploring the creative and curious world of work through monologues and conversations with creative entrepreneurs, storytellers, and change-makers.

Who is your target audience?

Creative entrepreneurs

What’s the number 1 thing listeners love about your podcast?

Most people comment on my voice. But apart from that, people often connect with either the monologues or the interviews.

Why are you doing this podcast?

When I was teaching a professional practices course at a local community college, a student told me that I should be sharing more in public. I’m not sure how I came up with podcasting as the medium for that, but I’m glad I did.

Given that there are two components to the show—monologues and interviews—I enjoy the internal work of monologues and connecting with guests through (hopefully) engaging and unexpected questions.

Are you monetizing this podcast? If so, how?

No. I will occasionally land paid gigs based on the show.

What advice would you give a new podcaster?

Speak from a sense of curiosity and wonder. Don’t tell the audience what you think they want to hear, tell them what you want them to know. Your voice is a powerful asset. You don’t need to listen to podcasts to enjoy podcasting. You will never run out of ideas.

What’s your favorite podcast you listen to?

My clients’ podcasts: From One Caregiver To Another, The Radiant Badass with Elizabeth Holmes, and Creatives Ignite.

Anything else people should know about you or your podcast?

As I near the 7th anniversary of the show, this is the most consistently creative I’ve been in my life and business. It has helped me to rewrite internal stories of what I’m capable of and what I have accomplished throughout my life. This is possible for you too.

Where can people follow you?

I’m on Instagram and Twitter as @buildcuriosity.
